A purveyor of organic and Fair Trade coffees & teas, Cafe Moto is a second-generation family-owned & operated business. They began roasting coffee in San Diego in 1968, and they still roast their own coffee 4-5 days a week. Current owners Torrey and Kim Lee have taken their passion for passing a positive legacy to future generations, and applied it more broadly. They encourage the farmers they buy from to become multi-generation family business, too, and they source sustainably in order to support that mission. You can order their coffee and tea online.
Three brothers -- Emil, Herbert and Hans Mick -- left Germany and started a coffee plantation in Peru in 1936. It thrived, became a premium shade plantation, and has won the coveted Specialty Coffee Association of America "Gold Bean" award. Today, Micky Giunta, Dieter and Ingo Noche (second and third generations of the Mick Family) run the farm. Eddie and Micky Giunta opened the café in New Hampshire, and they also manage the importing of the coffee from Peru. The cafe is often rated the best coffee house in Plymouth.
The coffee in Peru is stored in pergamino and husked only days prior to shipment.
The coffee shop in Plymouth, NH, uses frozen coffee as ice cubes so that your iced coffee won't get watered down.

Kansas City & online
Kansas City's premiere gourmet coffee roastery, Action Coffee Service is in its 46th year of business, and its second generation of family management. "We are a family business, started by Charles and Annette Thurston in 1969, selling coffee and allied products to offices and restaurants in the Kansas City metropolitan area. In 1985 we purchased a Royal No. 5 roaster; a true antique that we still use today for small batches of our gourmet coffees." Bud Thurston has been the president since 1985.
